Lets you click empty space in the item list to clear the selection, as in Finder or Windows File Explorer. Clicking blank space in the collections pane hides the collection highlight while the items stay shown.

Zotero keeps something selected after you click away, unlike most desktop file managers. Multi-select with Cmd, Ctrl and Shift is unchanged. Tested on Zotero 10 on macOS.
