Replace PDF has Atlas grade B (use with care) because it loads native code. It works with Zotero 8–10. Last checked 6 Nov 2026.

Adds Add PDF and Replace PDF to the item right-click menu. Replace PDF writes the new file into the existing attachment's file, so the name and attachment stay the same, then reindexes it and clears the picked file from Downloads.

Deleting and re-adding a PDF creates a new file with the same name, which synced folders such as iCloud can show as a duplicate like Name (1).pdf. Writing in place syncs as an ordinary edit and keeps tags, notes and links.
